Radiation Optimization in an Academic Training Program
Authors: Robert Gene Paden, MS, William Pavlicek, PhD, and Amy Hara, MD
Radiation optimization in academic and teaching facilities has a complexity dictated by diverse patient populations and constantly evolving CT technology. Instituting change for CT is further complicated by the myriad of highly educated and opinionated individuals impacted: physicists, technologists, radiologists, and referring clinicians. CT dose-saving features are now plentiful and a large number of imaging protocols are possible, requiring an organized approach for creation, optimization, dissemination, and use. An efficient process with an engaged team is critical to implement these dose-optimized protocols.
So, where to begin?
